How do I get my LightCue to chase SMPTE or EBU timecode?
In order for the LightCue to chase timecode, you must do the following:
1) Timecode must be present and active during the recording process. Make sure that you roll timecode before starting the recording so that the LightCue has a chance to lock to it. The Red LED on the front of the unit should illuminate and the LCD screen should indicate valid timecode is being recieved. At least one full second of pre-roll is required, but a bit longer is not a bad idea to make sure timecode is stable and the unit is properly locked at the start of the recording.
2) timecode must be present and active during the playback process, and must be the same time range present during the recording. The same valid timecode lock indications on the unit should be present during playback as during the recording. The recorded file is 'timestamped' at the beginning, and this is the time used to output the first frame of DMX data. This 'SMPTE Offset' can be edited by using the front panel controls on the LightCue.
