Where could I find the correct syntax and commands for controlling my equipment with yours?
We use protocol files to enable our show controllers to communicate with other equipment. They are simply text files that you can edit using a text editor like notepad.exe, which is bundled with Windows. If we currently do not have a protocol file for your equipment inftp://www.alcorn.com/pub/software/ws_v099.exe] WinScript, our show control program, here's what you can do:
Step One:
You'll need to contact the unit's manufacturer and get its serial protocol description.
Step Two:
Option A: Copy and paste an existing protocol file, like PIONEER.PCL, and edit and save it to make one for your unit. Then reopen WinScript, and you'll see the new protocol as one of your port options. If you installed WinScript onto your C: drive you can find all the current protocol files in C:\Program Files\Alcorn McBride Inc\WinScript\Protocol. Appendix A2, in the back of the http://www.alcorn.com/library/manuals/index.html]Show Control User's Guide, gives all the details on how to write a protocol file. The user's guide ships with your show controller.
Option B: To get you started, we can write a protocol file that implements a few of the commands you need to get up and running. You can then take over from there, implementing extra commands you'd like to have in the protocol file later. If you'd prefer to do this, email us a copy of the protocol description. In the email, tell us which commands you'll need to implement to get you started.
