Mega shopping malls are becoming part of everyday life for the millions of Hong Kong people. Residential developments and even universities are built next to or above shopping malls. Residents and students have to walk through the shopping mall before entering their home or school.
To promote the huge market of shopping and office developments, real estate developers of Hong Kong are heavily dependent on show suite facilities to sell their products. Alcorn McBride show control and media reproduction equipment are specified in many of the most expensive developments. Millennium City 5 - APM Show Suite was one of these projects.
Dino Technology was assigned the role of AV Consultant to design, specify, and program the AV and Show Control System. The main feature is a 6m by 6m projection cube. Two types of screen technologies are employed - UMU glass, and front / rear PVC projection screen.
To gain visibility through the PVC screen, hundreds of holes of various size are punched into the screen to create a see-through effect. Video images projected on these projection surfaces are viewed from both front and rear, depending upon where you are in the interactive journey.
Haze is distributed through the projected area to create light beams. Projectors are used for both video and lighting effects.
Eight synchronized DVMs, a V16+, IO64, and Audio Machine form the Show Control and A/V system. An AMX remote provides the hand-held user interface, a HogPC from Flying Pig controls the robotics and conventional lighting system.
